SUSAYE GREENE
Susaye Greene is an American singer, songwriter and performer, best known as one of the final members of the legendary Motown group The Supremes. She joined the group in 1976, performing alongside Mary Wilson and Scherrie Payne, and contributed to the group’s final recordings and international tours before their farewell concert in London in 1977.
Born in Houston, Texas, Susaye began performing at a young age and later studied at the High School of Performing Arts in New York. She built her early career as a sought-after session vocalist, working with Ray Charles as part of The Raelettes and with Stevie Wonder’s Wonderlove. Her voice can also be heard on recordings such as Songs in the Key of Life.
As a songwriter, she has made a significant impact, co-writing “I Can’t Help It” with Stevie Wonder for Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall, and contributing songs recorded by artists including Deniece Williams, such as the R&B hit “Free”.
Following her work with The Supremes, Susaye embarked on an accomplished solo career, releasing the albums No Fear Here and Brave New Shoes, and has spent time performing with other former Supremes members. Ms. Greene continues to perform worldwide. Beyond music, she is active as an author, visual artist and entrepreneur, focusing on creative development and coaching.
